Exciting developments are unfolding in Phoenix, with major projects set to shape the city's landscape in 2024 🌆🚀A significant highlight is the progress of the semiconductor plant, slated to commence production of four-nanometer chips in early 2025. The massive construction effort, involving around 12,000 workers, is guided by a framework ensuring workplace safety, training and effective communication, reflecting a collaborative effort between TSMC and union leadership.ASU Core Research Facilities is playing a pivotal role in this endeavor, partnering with TSMC to provide specialized equipment for semiconductor fabrication at both the Eyring Materials Center and the MacroTechnology Works, one of the largest university-based microelectronics R&D facilities in the nation. This collaboration underscores ASU's commitment to supporting advancements in semiconductor technology.Additionally, the anticipation is building for the opening of ASU's medical school, a significant expansion of the university's health offerings in downtown Phoenix. While the exact location is yet to be confirmed, discussions around the Mercado site on Fifth and Van Buren streets suggest its inclusion in ASU's plans to expand the "healthcare core." The medical school represents a crucial addition to Phoenix's healthcare landscape, with ASU continuing to own the site as per an amended agreement with the City Council. As these projects unfold, 2024 becomes a pivotal year where Phoenix's skyline transforms not just physically but also economically and academically. The collaborative efforts and strategic investments align with the city's vision for a dynamic and prosperous future 🏗️💼.Interested in discovering more about the significant events shaping Phoenix in 2024, find detailed information by visiting the following link: https://lnkd.in/gC32y8-p

We are 🌟Embracing Excellence🌟 through our work in Campus Design. Campus design has been part of our work since the very beginning; it is an area we excel in. In the early years of HarrisonStevens, we delivered the first phases of the landscape and infrastructure for the Inverness Campus, building on our previous experiences at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh BioQuarter, Clydebank College and wider business, education and research estates such as Edinburgh Park, Alba Campus and the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Headquarters at Gogarburn. With Inverness Campus, a model emerged through joint ventures between universities and education establishments, the NHS and private sector research organisations, which provided integration at multiple levels through their respective courses, unique research opportunities and health care innovations. The increase in the use of active travel modes and University’s green travel priorities has seen significant emphasis applied to how these remote edge of city campuses can integrate more easily into the urban environment. Students desire to be better connected to the more diverse and vibrant urban centres. When the establishments get this relationship right there are significant benefits to mental health and wellbeing while academic output is improved. A recent evolution of approach to sites such as Heriot Watt University, University College Dublin (UCD) and the University of Edinburgh, look at their existing estates, consider how to upgrade them and bring them into the modern era whilst future-proofing them for adaptation. We are also seeing a similar approach being adopted by the NHS with a strong focus on future-proofing and a reinforcement of identity. Key to many of these projects is the integration of a consistent and flexible public realm and landscape strategy. HarrisonStevens are at the forefront of this sector, providing excellence in design and delivery, and an innovative and responsive approach to estate management.Health and wellbeing has been increasingly prevalent in our campus work, long before the pandemic highlighted the vital importance of open space to health. Our work at Heriot Watt campus focused on the re-engagement of buildings with landscape. Though the campus was set in a beautiful landscape, visibly connected through glazed corridors and refectories, it remained physically divorced and isolated. Our approach at the Riccarton Estate on the campus had two levels: a wider scale aspiration to enhance active connections beyond the campus through improved cycle networks and footpath/exercise routes connected to the wider city and regional networks; and a local campus-scale proposal to improve the accessibility and relationship between buildings and landscape. #EmbracingExcellence #CampusDesign #LandscapeInfrastructure #Education #UrbanEnvironment
