PS4 - Can no longer play 4 player local split screen - Ps5 (2024)

Hey there,
I often play 4 player split screen Terraria with my kids, but as of 1.4 only one other player can join. Is this a bug? Or did Terraria go from being 4 player local split screen to 2 player?

Playing Ps4 Terraria on Ps5.

For Split Screen to work, whoever starts the game must be logged into the PlayStation Network. I had to setup PSN accounts for all of my kids. What a PIA.

I read that 1.4 doesn’t support Split Screen with Multiplayer

That's not the problem. The problem is that the third or fourth splitscreen player are unable to join

Ahh OK. I was just seeing people mention logging into PSN, so thought online was involved. My bad.

Hey Taluk and others, did the PSN login solution + disabling the parental controls work for you>? I've tried, but logging into the PSN network, but I am not sure if I need to do it for all accounts...

Additionally, do you just need to make sure the parental restrictions arn't active?

I too am unable to get splitscreen muliplayer working. Multiple accounts all with PS+ and no restrictions on any console. First player logs in and starts up the world. Second\third players log into PSN accounts and pressing any key on the controller does not prompt the second player to login. The invite system on PS5 only works for PS5 games and therefore, an invitation from Terraria will not appear in the list.

Edit. Clicking the OPTIONS button allows a second player to edit. Yet to test more than 2 players in the world.

I can enter and then exit with a controller and then enter and exit with my other controller with both my kids profiles that works fine but it just won't let them play together with me for offline 3 player split screen. In another thread on here there is one of the moderators trying to help me figure this out and sent me links to people who have played 4 player offline split screen since the update so I mean I guess it does work I just don't understand why it doesn't on mine. My kids are crushed bc we loved playing together and they have been excited for the update for awhile now. I just can't figure out why this is and only thing that makes sense is they removed it but like I said someone showed me links of people talking about playing offline 4 player split screen since update so maybe there is a glimmer of hope.

It doesn't help to resolve your issue - but I can confirm I can play 4 player offline splitscreen on the PS5. They haven't removed the option, so hopefully yours is just a bug that will be resolved in time.

Yea it works on PS5 I just heard from someone else too but not on PS4. It seriously is just not an option anymore on PS4. I wish they could give an answer to why it doesn't work on PS4 but does on ps5.
